So here it is! The much awaited Pontifical Low Mass finally happened. It was celebrated on a sort of rainy Thursday (September 20, 2012).
I have no idea when was the last time that such event occurred in the Ateneo, but perhaps it is safe to say that it was more or less 50 years. Perhaps a Jesuit could give us all the correct answer but we’ll just stick with that estimate for now.
The mass was officiated by His Excellency Antonio R. Tobias D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Novaliches.
Earlier that day I was asked by numerous people how many were we expecting and I told them that we expect 50 people. Little did we know, more people came. During my first count (20 mins before the mass) it was 63 people; and my final count (before the mass ended), we were 105.
On behalf of the Ateneo Latin Mass Society, I wish to thank all the Jesuits who attended (nearly 50%), to all who took time off from work or their schedules to attend and for those who helped in making this all possible.
These shots of mine were dedicated to everyone who were not able to attend this Eucharistic celebration; especially to our Bros. in the ALMS Macky Villasis, Dr. Quirino Sugon and Dave Dela Cruz.
So, here are the photos:
The great theologian, Rev. Fr. Catalino Arevalo SJ
The rector of the Loyola House of Studies, Rev. Fr. Jose Quilongquilong SJ
Former Foreign Secretary, Finance Secretary and Chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Alberto Romulo.
And of course the great Fr. Tim Ofrasio SJ.
Thanks for stopping by today…
Long live sacred Philippines!
